Felecia’s Story

“Felecia” was a struggling, single mom to a 5 year old son and disappointed when she found out she was pregnant again. Her mother told her to “get it taken care of and move on”, and like many other desperate women, Felecia went to the abortion clinic and took the first dose of the abortion pill. 

      Later that day, when she was sitting in front of the second set of pills, she just couldn’t do it. That’s when the father of her baby found the national Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) hotline number, which led her to Gateway! Our Nurse Manager quickly jumped into action; rang our contact at NeighborHealth Center who was able to prescribe emergency abortion pill reversal medication that night – we knew time was of the essence!

      The very next morning, she and the father came into Gateway Durham for an ultrasound where we found a heartbeat and a healthy 11 week old baby! Felecia smiled with relief when the heartbeat echoed across the room!

      One week later, Felicia came back for a repeat scan which thankfully showed the baby was growing and healthy.  These were nerve-racking appointments, waiting to see if the baby was safe after that first dose of the abortion pill…but the outcome was so wonderful!

Felicia was so thankful she came to us. And we are thankful for our partnership with NeighborHealth Center, which enables us to provide this life-saving service to women who, by God’s amazing grace, change their minds at the very last possible moment and choose LIFE for their baby!
